Chapter 4 of 1 John reveals love (agape) as the true mark of Christians for the third time. Take a few minutes to count how many times the word “love” is repeated in this chapter. In only two verses (verses 7-8), we read these commands from God and His Truths about love.
“Love one another.”
“Love is from God.”
“Whoever loves has been born of God and knows God.”
“Anyone who does not love does not know God.”
“God is love”
But it’s the following few verses that humble me to the core.
“In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.” 1 John 4:10-411
