Acts in April
Welcome to our April reading plan as we journey through the book of Acts together!
Acts was written by Luke the Physician to his friend, Theophilus. and picks up where the Gospel of Luke leaves off. In other words, Acts can be read as the sequel to Luke, creating a connection between the four Gospels and the rest of the New Testament. It is the longest New Testament book, covering approximately 32 years, and was written somewhere around 62 BC. Luke and Acts. together comprise about 25% of the New Testament.
Acts begins with Luke explaining Jesus’ promise of the Holy Spirit and His ascension into heaven. In this book, a story is told of the expansion of the early Church geographically (Jerusalem to Rome) and ethically (Jews to Gentiles). In these pages, we will read and study the impact of Paul’s missionary journeys and how the work done by the Apostles, through the power of the Holy Spirit, carried the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world.
I pray that as we read and study the Book of Acts, our eyes are opened to the beautiful picture of the Early Church and the spread of the Gospel. In challenge and triumph, this book paints a picture of the enduring power of the Gospel and the lives of those who obediently surrendered their lives in honor and worship to Jesus.
